Dame Helen Mirren took the chance to voice her condemnation of Hollywood’s obsession with 18- to 25-year-old men. Her comments are reported by the BBC (with video) and The Guardian.
It’s long been known that Hollywood targets that demographic. But Mirren obviously doesn’t understand why, it’s not penis worship, it’s business practice. They’re the biggest market (and probably the easiest to market too, especially as most of the execs in Hollywood know it) and it’s the movie business.
About the lack of roles for older women, well she’s in a position to do something about it, I don’t understand why stars who are getting on don’t just start their own production companies and make the movies with roles they want to star in. Stop talking and moaning and start doing.
