A while ago I spent an afternoon putting together a quick video demonstration of the importance of sound in a film. Sound is so often overlooked as an integral part of a film, with the picture gaining so many more plaudits, you only have to look at the reverence cinematographers get at awards ceremonies compared to sound designers. I was once told, and firmly believe, that sound is equally as important as pictures in the make up of a film. Anyway, my clip shows a toy battle tank, initially with wild track (that recorded at the time), then with added sound effects nicked from a couple of war movies. It’s far from perfect, but I think you’ll get the idea.
Since then, I spotted a commercial for Sneaux shoes, which involves a stop motion video of someone skateboarding on the back of another person. (It also links quite nicely to the article on stop motion animation I did earlier on this month).
