Movies at Cannes

So, to recap, the movies we saw and those we wanted to see:

Those We Saw

Paris, Je T’aime
- Essentially 18 short films by different directors all about love in Paris, fantastic.

Kaze No Tami No Naushika
- Superb animation about a future world ravaged by pollution, where giant insects and humans try and live in the areas left untouched, until the warring nations fight over a super weapon

Fast Food Nation
- Nice but ordinary look at the American fast food industry

Taxidermia
- A gross look at three lives, the grandfather, a masturbating soldier looking for love, the father, a speed eater for Bulgaria looking for success, the son, a taxidermist looking for immortality

BOFFO! Tinseltown’s Bombs and Blockbusters
- All about film-making in Hollywood, what drives people, how it works

An Incovenient Truth
- Documentary about Al Gore trying to wake the world up to global warming

Southland Tales
- A confusing story about things that are high on the US political agenda by Richard Kelly

Over the Hedge
- A solid, though not ground-breaking, animated comedy.
