When the audience that had gathered to hear a panel titled The Future of Darknets: Can Hollywood See the Light? at the South by South West (SXSW) festival they took their opportunity to put a few shots across the bow of a member of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).
There’s an overview by an attendee, as well as the full audio and some video clips available as questions from why, when one of the audience moved to the UK, they suddenly couldn’t play their entire region 1 encoded DVD collection or why another couldn’t download a copy of the Sopranos despite being an HBO subscriber are fired at the representative.
The general feeling from both ordinary consumers and people from industry seemed to be that the MPAA is not serving the artists they say they represent, only the hungry studios and themselves.
