Movie piracy has been big news and the industry leaders seem to be showing a lot of concern over it. I’ve long been arguing that going after their customers isn’t working and, in fact, is a much harder and smaller scale method that may be easier for the studios, but is ultimately not doing anything to tackle the problem.
A recent news story confirms that the movie industry should be more interested, worried and invested in sorting out their own side of things, especially where post-production and DVD production are concerned. Eight people have just been convicted of stealing an early copy of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, from a post-production facility, not that it had a big impact on the box office results.
