Firewall

I love Harrison Ford, he sums up the underated hero, from Han Solo to Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan to Rick Deckard. He’s getting on in years it’s true (64 this year), but no one looks to be threatening his status as he returns in a new movie alongside Paul Bettany (another actor whose work I enjoy). Firewall has a lot of parallels (for me) to the likes of Air Force One and Patriot Games.

Ford plays Jack Stanfield, a computer security specialist at a bank. Bettany plays Bill Cox, a thief who intends to hold Jack’s family hostage and force him to help steal $100 million. While transferring money into an offshore account though, Jacks decides that if Cox has everything he holds dear, he’ll steal what Cox holds dear: his money. Then begins a game of cat and mouse as the two players try to get what they want, with Jack batting to save his family.

The action looks up to spec, the plot holds some water (who cares?) and Ford and Bettany are more than good enough to carry us through, dare I say a surefire hit? We shall have to wait and see.

Check out the trailer at Apple.
