You have to say that it’s a very literal title. It’s been mentioned in the press for a while now, with various cast and crew coming and going. Brian Singer, however, seems to be the man for the job and the first teaser trailer is out.
A new Superman film would seem long overdue considering the success of the Smallville TV show. Indeed, the trailer shows clips of a young Superman finding his was, doing massive leaps and falling through barn roofs. I’ve never heard of the lead actor, but that’s probably a good thing for the role and he’s ably backed up by a quality cast including the likes of Kevin Spacey, Frank Langella, Kate Bosworth, Parker Posey and, of course, Marlon Brando.
The trailer suggests the necessary depth is there, and Spacey as Lex Luther means he’s certainly got his hands full with a darstardly villain. Add to this the fact that Singer has already shown that he can successfully bring big budget comic adaptations to the screen and it looks like a winner, but only time will tell.
