It seems that screenwriters, the long unsung heroes of the movie biz, are finally to get some recognition and their own festival in the UK next year. The creatively titled Sreenwriters Festival is to be held in Cheltenham at the end of June and will be backed by Screen International. I like this quote from David Peason, managing director of Arturi Films and one of the organisers:
…there are very few places where screenwriters can meet and converse with the actors, directors and producers who need their imagination, ideas and writing.
It makes screenwriter out to be a bunch of loners.
