It has been announced that the new James Bond will be relative unknown Daniel Craig who’s biggest role to date was his portrayal of a smart drug dealer in Layer Cake, the gangster film directed by Matthew Vaughn.
Craig has had roles in the original Tomb Raider, Road to Perdition, The Jacket and will star in the upcoming Munich, directed by Steven Spielberg.
I’m glad to see that the original comments by Casino Royale screenwriter Paul Haggis about making Bond in his late twenties were false and I think Craig will be able to combine the smoothness we’ve come to expect from Bond because of Brosnan with the physical attributes necessary and have a slightly harder edge, which Brosnan seemed to lack (even when he was trying).
All in all, a good choice I’d say.
