Greenlight for Golden Compass

It looks like a the first of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, The Golden Compass, is set to be the next children’s novel adaptation into production. They’re going to need to be a tough bunch of films, even though they’ve removed the religious references, because Pullman has categorically stated they were anti-Christian and that means they’re in for some serious lambasting.

The one benefit, and perhaps a reason they look to be the next books to make it to the big screen, is that they are dominated by human characters, unlike some of the other popular children’s novels (Artemis Fowl, Eragon, Shadowmancer) which have large numbers of characters from fantasy races.
