All of us have seen those little quotes featured on the posters, trailers and DVD covers of movies, but do you ever stop to think where the come from? Gelf Magazine has an interesting article about how most of them are cleverly edited from the original review to make them sound positive and that some journalists that are further down the pecking order trade good reviews for fame.
I’d already heard that one studio (Sony) had even invented a reviewer to supply good quotes, and were subsequently found out, but I hadn’t realised how prevalent quote altering was.
