The BBC have an article on the proposed tax-relief for films made in the UK.
The system means that for films with a budget of £20 million or less Producers will receive a 50% tax waiver on their production costs if the film makes a profit and 20% of the budget if itdoes not.
I’m sure that’s good news, but, quite frankly, if you can raise £20 million, you don’t really need subsidising. This is purely a measure to make the UK more attractive to Hollywood and European filmmakers to come here, especially in light of the relatively high cost of production in the UK.
